On the eve of the 12th annual BET Awards, Cash Money Records Group threw a private cocktail party at Philippe Chow's new Beverly Hills location to celebrate the label's recent Billboard cover story. Label founders and co-CEOs, brothers Ronald "Slim" and Bryan "Birdman" Williams appeared on the cover of Billboard's first annual Urban Power Issue (July 7, 2012). Though several of the label's artists, including Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj, have all covered Billboard over the years, the Urban Power Issue marked the first time the label's executives had appeared on the cover.

"It's an honor," said Birdman, who made brief remarks in front of a bank of photographers after accepting an enlarged, framed image of the cover from Billboard's music editor, Benjamin Meadows-Ingram, who also wrote the piece. "We put our lives into this music sh-t, and we don't ever stop," Birdman continued, flanked by Universal Republic CEO Monte Lipman, Cash Money's longtime business manager Vernon Brown, and his brother Slim. "We won't never stop. YMCMB for life."

MTV News' Rob Markman worked the red carpet. Birdman's publicist, Sarah Cunningham of The Chamber Group, worked the door and introduced Birdman for the cover presentation.

Guests were treated to drinks courtesy of GT Vodka, the recently launched spirits company in which Birdman has an equity stake, hors d'oeuvres, and Trukfit gift bags. (Trukfit is the action sports apparel company owned by Lil Wayne.) Copies of Billboard's Urban Power Issue were made available at every table and Beats by Dre also had a branded presence near the bar.
